The more we worked together, the more I started to understand how her life influenced her music. I’m always fascinated by how people channel timeless elements into their lives, and when I realized how walking into Chloes world would mean being surrounded by so many romanticized elements of literature, fashion and lifestyle, I understood how those elements shaped the sound of her music. Whether its for a personal project, for a personal memory, or for a personal passion, we approached every shoot knowing there was this mutual trust, baked into our years of experience, where we knew we could not only fulfill our own goals, but also craft a route to creating something worthy for our audiences to appreciate. Its always a great creative experience to know that we can balance creating things we find viewers would appreciate, while also dedicating a little time for ourselves in a way that says “Lets just make these for ourselves”. This shoot, from my 2024 studio is a portion of that shoot where we found that balance of creating something outside of our ordinary work that still seemed like something our audience would love.

As I make my way through any parade crowd, I find myself pulling focus away from the parade itself. For the most part, I find other photographers already have capturing that creativity well handled. What I try to find is on the fray - the scenic happenstance that comes from just being around the celebration. In this case, the downtown neighborhoods of the Bywater and Marginy did not disappoint, as the parade made its way down Royal St.

I’m starting to get back into shooting street content so it’s been interesting to self reflect and see how I shoot things, especially while I’m very much NOT focused on the task. Sometimes I see my style of composition, story telling, and mystery developing and then other times I shoot what I believe is absolute garbage and realize it results in the exact same style…like tonight. Hope you enjoy!

Whether you’re in the service industry and are exhausted, have been partying for days and are exhausted, or a visitor and are exhausted, one thing is certain….you’re exhausted. However, this is what we love! The spirit of this city takes work and after the year we’ve had, we all needed a reason to be a part of something positive and fun. So from all of us here in New Orleans, partying, putting in the work, or putting on the show, “Happy Carnival Season”.

My memory is a little foggy, but I remember turning to my wife and saying “I’ll be back, I’m about to go take an epic picture of that popcorn’s face.” Here we are!

Over the past few days I’ve been blown away by the amount of people who not only subscribed but reached out to tell me how much they enjoyed photos from the weekend. That fills my heart. I’m always thankful to be included in things so I’m always happy to share photos from what I see while being socially awkward. Heres a few color images shot with my Fuji X100VI that I felt could be a little lagniappe for those who were kind enough to subscribe!

Setting out at 8am to traverse the homes of Church Point, LA by way of tractors and floats, the members created another year of memories filled with singing, dancing and the occasional chicken run well into the evening.

Between the fun, the hard work of organizing, costuming, and mobilizing didn’t go unnoticed, as the riders, bands, and supporters prepared for the arctic air in an effort to carry on Cajun heritage.
